Slicing up Suede Bolete (Xerocomus sp.) to demonstrate the texture and faint blue staining. These are edible but don’t have great flavor or texture, 2/5 stars for an edibility/taste score. They do however have very soft suede like caps which are fun to touch. Boletes like this get mold and degrade quickly, slicing it up like this helps to spread the spores. Nothing is wasted, the mushroom was returned to the forest floor for bugs and insects to snack on. #bolete #slicing #mushroom #mycology #fun
