🏀On March 24, 1980 the NCAA Tournament Basketball Championship Game was held at Market Square Arena in Indianapolis, Indiana. Louisville, coached by Denny Crum, won the national title with a 59–54 victory in the final game over UCLA, coached by Larry Brown. Darrell Griffith of Louisville, who scored 23 points in the title game, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player. Louisville would return to the national championship game six years later, where they upset Duke to win another title
