Starting Friday, June 17, access to main post from Trainer Gate and Siku Basin area will require traveling east on River Road and crossing the bridge near the golf course. Today, the first of many new combat readiness training facilities on Fort Wainwright opened up for Soldier use. U.S. Army Alaska Commander Maj. Gen. Peter Andrysiak, U.S. Army Garrison Alaska Commander Col. Christopher Ruga and 402nd AFSB Commander Lt. Col. LuzHilda Restrepo cut the ribbon, opening the Combat Readiness Training Facility. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is working with a third-party telecommunications partner to further improve the quality of life at Fort Wainwright by adding FOUR new cellular towers to the installation! The first tower that will support telecom equipment went up yesterday near the Quick Lane, and the whole project is expected to be completed by late spring.
