North Head’s long-nosed bandicoot population is endangered, so the species is currently being monitored. A snapshot of Bandicoot surveys in the Kimberley 👀 Using camera traps and live trapping, our team in the Kimberley have been monitoring bandicoots to build a population estimate and measure the impact of conservation actions. Two different species occur in the Kimberley - the Northern Brown Bandicoot, and the much rarer threatened Golden Bandicoot. However, they can be difficult to tell apart. Part of our ongoing survey work involves taking measurements and genetic (hair) samples from bandicoot
