Typhoon Wipha has toppled trees and caused major flight disruptions in Hong Kong and at some nearby airports in China as it moved west off the country’s southern coast.
Vietnam's Prime Minister put coastal provinces on emergency footing for Typhoon Wipha, saying it could cause flooding and landslides, as airlines cancelled flights ahead of the storm's expected landfall early on Tuesday.
Wipha, a Thai name, passed over the Philippines at tropical storm strength and drenched parts of Taiwan on Saturday. In the Philippines, the storm intensified seasonal monsoon rains, leaving at least a villager dead in floodwaters in northern Cagayan province.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has directed local leaders in typhoon-ravaged cities and provinces to take urgent steps to address the widespread damage caused by Typhoon Wipha, focusing on restoring agricultural production and stabilizing livelihoods in affected communities.
