Manny Machado homered and Ryan Bergert combined with five relievers on a four-hitter as the San Diego Padres edged the Milwaukee Brewers 1-0.

David Morgan came in to pitch for the San Diego Padres in the bottom of the ninth inning against the Milwaukee Brewers. Morgan threw one pitch to Caleb Durbin and it resulted in a game winning solo home run to left-center field to give the Brewers a 4-3 win.

There was plenty of late game drama Saturday between the Padres and Brewers. The team combined to score 6 times in the final 3 innings. In the top of the 9th inning, the Padres tied the game on a 2-out 2 run double by Luis Arraez.

Dropping the last two games in San Francisco to settle for a split dropped the Padres back to two games behind the Dodgers in the division. They’ve won six of their last 10 games and remain a game up on the Giants in the race for the NL’s second wild-card spot. The Phillies are 1½ games up on the Padres in the race for the No. 1 wild-card spot.
