Thousands across the Chicago area rallied for "No Kings Day" protests against the Trump administration. There seemed to be a never-ending crowd of people marching from Daley Plaza all throughout the Loop.
And police told crowds to disperse at a rally in downtown Los Angeles after authorities said people had thrown "rocks, bricks, bottles," and "fireworks" at officials. Activists in some areas braved wet weather to raise signs and chant slogans supporting the rights of immigrants and criticizing what they see as Trump's power grab.
The Houston demonstration is one of several planned in the region throughout the day and is expected to draw thousands of protesters.
Extensive Chicago street closures and parking restrictions will be in place this weekend for the Puerto Rican Festival and Parade, Taste of Randolph, Midsommarfest, the Old Town Art Fair, Wells Street Art Festival and the "No Kings" protest in Daley Plaza.
The Chicago Teachers Union will be joining the "No Kings" march in downtown Chicago on Saturday, June 14, according to the union's website. The march is scheduled for the same day a massive military parade is set to take to the streets of Washington in an elaborate showcase of troops, tanks, weapons and aircraft.
