The New Orleans Pelicans viewed Derik Queen as a guy who can be a foundation of the franchise, and moved up 10 spots in the NBA Draft to get him.

The Hawks received the rights to the 23rd overall pick, Asa Newell, and an unprotected 2026 first-round pick (best from New Orleans or Milwaukee) from the Pelicans for Queen.
