Andy Murray has revealed he would have chosen to coach Roger Federer ahead of Novak Djokovic. The Scot accepted an invitation from the Serb to work together at last month’s Australian Open - and admitted he spent too much time “over analysing matches”.

Entering 2025, one of the most fascinating storylines was the partnership between Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray. Just a few months after Murray retired in 2024, he officially joined Djokovic's coaching staff for the start of 2025.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion has recovered from injury faster than expected and is eager to return to competition. His run at Melbourne Park ended in an atrocious mockery, but the level shown by Novak in the Happy Slam – with particular reference to the victory over Carlitos Alcaraz – leads to optimism for the future.

The report added the two could link up next at Indian Wells in March, assuming Djokovic is good to go by then.
