Mariners' Julio Rodriguez: Snaps homer drought
The homer broke a streak of 23 games without going deep for Rodriguez over which he hit .268 (26-for-97) with six steals, 10 runs scored and only three RBI. The 24-year-old also tallied two additional RBI in the ninth with his 11th double of the season.
Julio Rodriguez hit a single in the top of the sixth also on Thursday. That knock was the 500th of Rodriguez's career. He had to narrowly beat out a throw by Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman.
Rodriguez is very clearly working, there's no doubt about that, and he deserves real credit for cutting his strikeout rate.
