Coco Gauff lifted her maiden French Open title on Saturday afternoon and then told reporters that she hoped to be a “reflection of hope and light” for “people that look like me in America”.

Coco Gauff was dumbstruck after beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the French Open final on Saturday, admitting she did not think she had what it takes to stop the Belarusian heavy hitter on Court Philippe Chatrier.

Coco Gauff celebrated with her parents, mother Candy and father Corey, after winning her maiden Roland Garros title with a three-set victory over World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka.
