OpenAI has told investors it will share a smaller fraction of revenue with major backer Microsoft as it moves ahead with its restructuring, The Information reported on Tuesday.

OpenAI reportedly plans to slash Microsoft's revenue share after the ChatGPT maker's CEO announced that the AI firm jumped ship on its plan to evolve into a for-profit entity.

The rebalancing of revenue shares comes at a time when OpenAI is actively restructuring its organizational structure and revenue model, and removed the limit on how much returns its investors can get. On May 5, the firm officially confirmed that its nonprofit will continue to be in charge and convert into a “Public Benefit Corporation”.
