After a heated series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres, Hall of Fame reliever Trevor Hoffman stated the rivalry is "good for the game."

The Padres are two games off the Dodgers’ pace in the NL West and in possession of the NL’s third wild-card spot, one game behind the Giants. The Padres’ plus-25 run differential ranks 12th in the majors.
