Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced Friday that the team has signed Lonnie Walker IV, the former Reading High star. It was reported earlier this week that the Sixers were going to sign Walker.

CAMDEN, NJ -- The Sixers announced two new signings on Friday morning before they practiced. Lonnie Walker IV officially agreed to a two-year deal with the team which includes a team option for next season, while David Roddy inked a two-way contract after his 10-day deal expired last night.

Walker, who played AAU basketball for Delaware County-based Team Final, will sign a deal that contains a team option in the second year.

Veteran guard Lonnie Walker IV is returning to the NBA and will sign a two-year, $3.7 million deal with the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Shams Charania. Walker, who had been playing overseas for BC Zalgiris in Lithuania, had an NBA out in his deal which had to be activated by Feb. 18.

Walker signed with the Philadelphia 76ers exercising an NBA out clause he had in his contract with the Zalgiris. He’s returning to the NBA for his seventh season in the league after stints with the San Antonio Spurs, Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets.

Marc Stein reported in late December that the Sixers, Timberwolves, Nuggets, Celtics and Heat were “potential suitors” for Walker. According to Stein, Tuesday was the buyout deadline in Walker’s contract with Lithuanian club Žalgiris Kaunas.
