Church bells tolled on Brady Street Monday night as dozens gathered to remember Alderperson Jonathan Brostoff. The group of Brostoff's friends, colleagues and constituents met at Regano's Roman Coin at Astor Street and Brady Street before a silent candlelit walk to Farwell Avenue and Brady Street.

Milwaukee Common Council Ald. Jonathan Brostoff and former Ald. Terry Witkowski have died, according to a Monday release from the Milwaukee mayor’s office. Mayor Cavalier Johnson said in a statement that he is “extremely saddened” by the passing of both men.

Milwaukee Alderperson Jonathan Brostoff was found dead Monday morning in a far south parking lot section near 124th Street and Lincoln Avenue at Greenfield Park in West Allis. Police responded before noon to the discovery.

East Side Milwaukee Alderman Jonathan Brostoff has died at the age of 41. Brostoff represented the city’s 3rd District since November 2022, succeeding Nik Kovac. Between 2014 and 2022, Brostoff represented the 19th district in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Brostoff, a father to four children, was married to Diana Vang-Brostoff.
