An international car company will invest $280 million in a South Carolina facility to convert it to a “state-of-the-art” manufacturing plant that will create more than 700 jobs, officials said. Isuzu -- one of the world’s largest manufacturers of commercial trucks -- bought a one million-square-foot facility that sits on over 200 acres of property along Augusta Road in the Piedmont area of Greenville County.

The plant will have a production capacity of 50,000 units by 2030. It will use a variable-model and variable-volume system to produce both combustion and electric vehicles.
