A measured Steve Bannon told a group of reporters Wednesday that he thinks it's a mistake for the United States to get involved in direct military action against Iran -- urging President Donald Trump to question Israeli intelligence and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's warnings.

Since Israel began its concerted attack on Iran on Friday, calls for regime change in Iran have grown louder – from hawks in the US Congress to Israeli officials and some Iranian activists abroad.

Israelis have been rallying around the flag since the attacks began last week, even if not around Netanyahu himself.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is advancing “step by step” toward eliminating Iran’s nuclear program and its ballistic missiles. “We control the skies over Tehran. We are striking with tremendous force at the Ayatollah regime.
