Live castmember Aidy Bryant opened her monologue at the 2025 Independent Spirit Awards on Saturday by reflecting on an intimate moment between her and Kieran Culkin years ago. Culkin hosted the sketch comedy series in 2021,

The majority of the show is live, there's a full deck of cast members playing in different scenarios every 5-10 minutes and reading lines off cue cards while being ready for the complexity of quick changes semi-regularly.

While on the topic of Culkin, Bryant revealed that the pair had exchanged a “comedic kiss” when the actor hosted “Saturday Night Live.” Culkin told Bryant’s co-writer that she “really went for it with that kiss,” something that got back to her. The sketch in question “was cut, and never made it to air,” Bryant continued.

Bryant isn't the only former SNL cast member taking the stage this year. Molly Shannon has been named honorary chair for the 2025 Film Independent Spirit Awards, which is given to "an individual who exemplifies outstanding artistic achievement and embodies Film Independent’s mission." The Other Two star will also serve as a presenter.
