LAS VEGAS -- Nevada Democratic Sen. Jacky Rosen has won reelection, beating Republican Sam Brown in a tight but unusually quiet race for the battleground state.

The Associated Press has called the presidential race in the state of Nevada for President-elect Trump, awarding him six more electoral votes over Vice President Harris.

Nevada Sen. Jacky Rosen won reelection to a second term, keeping a critical U.S. Senate seat in Democratic hands. Rosen defeated Republican Sam Brown, a former Army captain wounded in the Afghanistan War.

Former President Donald Trump has won Nevada’s six electoral votes, according to a race call from the Associated Press. This is the first time in 20 years that Nevada has elected a Republican in a presidential election.

Donald Trump won Nevada with a majority of the vote and a 3.4-point lead over Kamala Harris. Jacky Rosen was also declared the winner over Sam Brown.

The AP only declares a winner once it can determine that a trailing candidate can’t close the gap and overtake the vote leader.

Comparing the actual number of people who voted, the last two general elections are similar. In 2020, 1,407,761 people voted in Nevada, In the 2024 election, 1,415,029 people voted, though that number could increase as the final ballots get counted.

Trump and Democrat Kamala Harris made multiple campaign stops in the state this year. Most of Nevada’s counties are rural and voted heavily for Trump in 2020. But Democrat Joe Biden that year won the two most populous counties of Washoe and Clark, the latter of which includes Las Vegas and three-quarters of the state’s residents.
