An Amber Alert issued for 3-year-old Nola Dinkins in New Castle County, Delaware, has been canceled, and the case is now being investigated as a homicide, police said. New Castle County Police said Wednesday that investigators determined the initial account of an abduction given by Dinkins' mother was false.
According to a criminal complaint obtained by Action News, Darrian Randle admitted to lying about the kidnapping of Nola Dinkins.
Detectives no longer believe Nola Dinkins was abducted, as her mother initially claimed, police said. The Amber Alert has also been canceled.
Community members in Cecil County said it was "disturbing" when they learned the body of a young child was found in their backyard as police searched for a missing Nola Dinkins.
