The meeting at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence of PM Modi, was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Army chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh and Navy chief Dinesh K Tripathi, among others.

World leaders urged the two sides to exercise "restraint" and called for a de-escalation of tensions. "The world cannot afford a military confrontation between India and Pakistan," UN Secretary-General António Guterres's spokesman said. He said Guterres is calling for "maximum military restraint from both countries".

Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai has urged India and Pakistan to cool tensions and unite against extremism, calling for dialogue and diplomacy to promote peace and security.
