When it launches next summer, Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Greek epic The Odyssey will be historic in more ways than one: it will be the first feature film ever shot entirely on IMAX film.

Imax CEO Rich Gelfond reveals how Christopher Nolan pushed the large format exhibitor to upgrade their film cameras so he can shoot entirely in Imax.

The Odyssey will be the first blockbuster in history to be exclusively shot on IMAX film cameras, per The Hollywood Reporter. This is quite the feat, as IMAX film cameras are notoriously hard to work with due to them being big and loud, unlike the much lighter digital IMAX cameras.
