Any moisture/snow left on the roads will freeze tonight as temperatures plummet into the single digits. Dangerously cold weather will continue through the weekend.

Extreme winter weather will blanket the eastern half of the U.S. this weekend with a combination of bitterly cold temperatures, gusty wind and — for some — heavy snow. For the tri-state, cold weather advisories are in place through at least Saturday morning.

Brevard residents are urged to prepare for a significant, potentially dangerous cold weather event as a historic cold outbreak is forecast.
