Canada-U.S. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc said a meeting with his American counterpart was positive, after the federal government moved to renew the Canada-U.S.-Mexico agreement and ramp up cross-border trade talks.

As India and the US negotiate a bilateral trade agreement, the US Trade Representative (USTR) has flagged India for allegedly failing to prevent imports of goods produced with forced labor.

The proposed tariffs could be imposed as early as July 7, as USTR is currently seeking public comment on these proposed actions, with written comments due by July 6, 2026, and a public hearing scheduled for July 7,

The USTR released the outcome of 60 investigations conducted under Section 301, identifying India among 54 economies that, according to its assessment, do not have adequate measures in place to prohibit or effectively prevent the import of goods allegedly produced using forced labour.
