A 15-year-old boy is in custody facing capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend’s mother and two children in West Texas. Odessa Police responded to a shooting call at the 87th Street Apartments on Tuesday.
Daniel Casares was shot and killed by the teen, 13, on July 25 at a residence in the 3500 block of Bob Billa Street on the city’s East Side. The shooting allegedly happened after a firearm the 13-year-old was handling accidently went off, hitting the 8-year-old sibling.
The investigation revealed that the shooting suspect, 21-year-old Daevon Shular of Seguin, Texas, was also taken to Baystate Medical Center privately on Sunday night for a gunshot wound. He was arrested at the hospital on Monday morning and charged with the following:
