A deadly severe weather outbreak spawned at least one tornado in 22 states from May 15-21. Among the hardest-hit states were Kentucky, Missouri, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.
As of now, the NWS believes the storm caused minimal damage. Subsequent tornadoes that may have formed are still being investigated.
SPRINGDALE, Ark. — The National Weather Service (NWS) has confirmed at least three tornadoes took place in Arkansas and three in Oklahoma on May 19. The organization confirmed on Tuesday that multiple tornadoes did occur a day prior and that the surveys will take time.
The extent of yesterday's storm has not been determined, but NWS Indianapolis noted that multiple tornadoes likely hit southern-central Indiana.
After completing damage surveys the NWS reports that an EF-0 tornado impacted Buchanan County on Monday, May 19. The tornado went through the area from 8:31-8:38 p.m. with estimated peak winds of 85 miles per hour. The path extended for 4.3 miles with a max width of 20 yards. No injuries were reported as a result of the tornado.
Severe weather struck eastern Colorado Friday with several tornado reports between Logan, Washington and Cheyenne Counties.
A few paths of damage from severe storms on May 20 throughout central Illinois have been identified by the National Weather Service.
Five ‘strong’ EF3 tornadoes tore through Kansas on Sunday night. While the tornadoes may have had winds close to 200 mph, they passed over largely rural areas.
