According to the FDA, there is "no known safe level of exposure to lead." In the Consumer Reports investigation, experts identified 0.5 micrograms of lead per day as a safe amount for most adults to consume. But it's not all doom and gloom: The report noted that none of the protein powders tested contains enough lead to cause "immediate harm."
