SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico -- Islands at the eastern end of the Caribbean Sea made preparations Sunday for approaching Hurricane Irma, a Category 3 storm that could threaten the area beginning Tuesday.

Hurricane Irma slapped South Florida on Sept. 10, 2017, with winds, rain and flooding. The storm blasted the paint off the Southernmost Point buoy in Key West. Flooded downtown Miami and Doral.
