The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is in the process of renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, in line with President Trump's recent executive order. The Geographic Names Information System database changed the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America earlier this week. It came after President Donald Trump's executive order on his first day in office calling for the change and the Department of the Interior's adoption of the new name last month.
