CFPB employees were told Sunday to work remotely because their Washington, D.C., headquarters would be closed through Feb. 14, according to a memo.

Russell Vought, director of the Office of Management and Budget and the acting director of CFPB, ordered the federal watchdog to stop work.

The closure of the CFPB, established after the 2008 financial crisis, follows a visit Friday by members of Elon Musk’s U.S. DOGE Service team.
