Kai Asakura finally lived up to his billing earlier this morning (Sat., May 30, 2026) at UFC Macau LIVE on Paramount+ from inside Galaxy Arena in Macau, China, when the former RIZIN bantamweight champion toppled Cameron Smotherman with a violent knockout finish just under two minutes into the first round.

Kai Asakura is finally on the UFC map. Asakura (22-6 MMA, 1-2 UFC) rocked Cameron Smotherman (12-7 MMA, 1-3 UFC) with a right hand, and eventually clipped him with a left which knocked him out at the 1:50 mark of Round 1 on Saturday's UFC Fight Night 277 main card at Galaxy Macau in China.

Though the promotion is holding its Macau event Saturday, two UFC bouts headlined the Road to UFC events earlier in the week. In Friday's Road to UFC headliner, Ming Shi bounced back into the win column with a 3:12 submission win via arm-triangle choke against Puja Tomar.
