Real Madrid have booked their place in the Club World Cup last 16 with a 3-0 win against RB Salzburg. The victory was enough for Xabi Alonso’s side to confirm top spot in Group H while the Austrians have been eliminated.

A group-stage exit for Real Madrid at the first expanded Club World Cup would’ve been unthinkable, before a crowd more than 90 percent partial to the Spanish giants. That contingent would’ve grown uncharacteristically uncomfortable had Salzburg converted any of its half-chances in the first half with the game scoreless.

A new-look Real Madrid beat RB Salzburg 3-0 to finish top of Group H and advance to the last 16 at the Fifa Club World Cup.
