The Oscars have scrapped live performances of the original song nominees for the first time in more than a decade, sparking backlash from fans and music industry insiders.

The legendary songwriter was nominated this year for her work on music for "The Six Triple Eight"; she previously received an Academy Honorary Award.

Unlike in past years, tonight’s Oscars ceremony will not showcase the music from the best original song nominees, but a musical moment from “Wicked” could be on the program. On Monday, it was announced that both Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande of the box-office smash would perform at the show.
