In January, the first major snow event of the year, temperatures were higher and the snow accumulation was over two times the amount this time around. Streets were still covered in snow, but because the area never experienced ice or extremely low temperatures, the City of Memphis road crews were able to clear roadways much easier.

The Memphis Area Transit Authority will only run eight routes on Wednesday: routes 11, 36, 39, 40, 42, 50, 52 and 57. The transit authority will provide rides for those who need to get to a warming shelter, and for "life-sustaining trips."

The winter storm warning is in effect from Tuesday at noon to Wednesday at noon. Snow is expected to begin falling around 6 p.m. Tuesday evening and transition to full snow by 10 p.m. Memphis is under a winter storm warning where the city could see a few inches of snow.

Memphians should not expect to see above-freezing temperatures until the weekend, causing the melted snow on roadways to refreeze.
