Steelers first-round draft pick Derrick Harmon's mother, Tiffany Saine, died late Thursday night shortly after Pittsburgh selected the defensive lineman from Oregon with the 21st overall pick.

Defensive tackle Derrick Harmon called Thursday night "bittersweet" as his mother was unable to be by his side when the Pittsburgh Steelers picked him 21st overall in the 2025 NFL draft. The former Oregon player told reporters Thursday night that his mom was on life support and that he intended to go to the hospital to inform her he was drafted.

The Steelers drafted Oregon defensive tackle Derrick Harmon with the 21st overall pick. Harmon then went to the hospital to share the news with his mother, Tiffany Saine, who was on life support. The Steelers confirmed Friday night that Saine died shortly after Harmon arrived.
