Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark has agreed to a contract extension with the Big 12 that will take him through 2030, a source confirmed to CBS Sports. The contract is a three-year extension on his initial five-year deal signed when he took over the conference in 2022.

Brett Yormark was relatively unknown in the world of college sports when the Big 12 hired him as its commissioner in 2022. Three years later, his name has become synonymous with the conference. So much so that the Big 12’s board of directors has voted to give Yormark a three-year contract extension.

Yormark's original contract with the Big 12 was a five-year deal that ran through 2027. If he remains in his job through the end of his extension, he will become the third-longest tenured commissioner in the history of the conference after Bowlsby (2012 to 2022) and Kevin Weiberg (1998 to 2007).
