The Green Bay Packers are experimenting with wide receiver Bo Melton playing snaps at cornerback during mandatory minicamp, which began Tuesday and was open to the assembled media in Green Bay.
The Green Bay Packers released two-time Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander on Monday, and following his departure, the team moved wide receiver Bo Melton to the cornerback position. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Melton impressed the Packers on special teams and that coaches were open to seeing him play on the defensive side of the ball.
Wide receiver Bo Melton is auditioning to be a two-way player during Packers minicamp. His special teams play inspired them to try him at cornerback.
Bo Melton didn’t mind the attention. And he certainly got a kick out of his brother Max’s exasperated phone call on Tuesday after the news broke.
