At Apple’s WWDC 2025, most of the design buzz centered around a new UI material called “Liquid Glass.” It’s shiny, it refracts light, it’s very Apple. Apple’s VP of Human Interface, Alan Dye, called it the company’s “broadest design update ever,” and it’s definitely a very different look and feel across all of Apple’s devices.

Apple Inc. unveiled the most sweeping software redesign in its history, aiming to make the company’s device lineup more cohesive and useful, even while doing little to upgrade its struggling artificial intelligence platform.

Apple announced Liquid Glass on Monday for all of its devices at WWDC 2025. Perhaps the most noticeable thing about it is that app icons, tab bars, and even the text magnifier you’ll see when you hover over words feel, well, liquid-y and glassy.
